What medicines can you not eat grapefruit while taking?

I like to drink grapefruit juice. But a friend told me that grapefruit juice may interact with the medications I take. What does this mean?
A.
Grapefruit juice provides many nutrients, such as vitamin C and lycopene. But chemicals in grapefruit interfere with the enzymes that break down (metabolize) certain drugs in your digestive system. This can result in excessively high levels of these drugs in your blood and an increased risk of serious side effects.
The exact chemicals in grapefruit juice that cause this interaction aren't known. But these chemicals are present in the pulp and peel of grapefruit as well as in the juice. For this reason, any grapefruit product
How long does a spinal epidural last?… by Timothy
I have very bad pain in my left shoulder and arm from a bulging disc “C-7 & C-6″ In my cervical spine. I keep hearing about these epidural shots that they can give you for pain. Can anyone tell me how long they last “kill the pain” and how bad does it hurt to get one of these shots? And how well do they really work? Thank you very much for any insight you can offer.

Hi, well you are in luck! That's what I did for a living for 3 years! Plus I have had them myself too. My bad disc are C4,5,6,7 will eventually be fused, my last injection was C-4 selective nerve root block, OMG I thought I'd die! The doc was horrible not at all like the ones I worked for. I was in so much more pain after wards I had to be put in a cervical collar! My husband has had 4 years of injections, he goes for a series of three twice a year, doc doesn't want him to have too much steroids, he has already had his fusion now the disc below it is crumbling. There are CESI that is cervical, and the LESI's lumbar, and of course TPI's (trigger points, in the center around other areas and in joints). It is Marcaine (a numbing medicine) and deprol medrol (the steriod used) one needle does it all at once, it is done under fluoroscopic x-ray so the Doctor can see your vertebra (ask for a picture too! they will give it too you if you ask!) Guides the needle, if you are w/c they will have you do lots of them probably, if it was from an accident, it just helps put off surgery a little longer. I can send you a photo of my neck w/ the needle in if you want me too, I can send you my email. They last anywhere from a few days to a few months and sometimes not at all. Everyone is different. It usually does make you more mobile, but no it doesn't kill the pain, maybe dulls it some, but you will still need your medications. The first 2 days after-wards hurts the most while the steroid disperes around the area. I'd take my meds before going in at least 30 ,minutes prior to the injection, just no blood thinners 3 days before the injection. Yes, they do work, most of the time. Feel free to message me, if you need too. I worked in pain mgt. with a DO and a MD both were anesthesiologists. Good Luck! Tash

Are there any ways to lessen the effects of adderall withdraw?… by Astr
Typically, my solution is to not be put in a situation were I can't take it, because I know from experiance it takes me at least a month to get back to normal.
i haven't taken it today and I've been extremly lethargic. I'm constantly hungry. My mind is constantly changing channells and I'm unable to think focus on the slighest things. My appearance also seems to change; i look puffy and pale and all together strung out.
Anyone have a definate cure for this?
Best Answer:
Have you tried just taking Ritalin LA? It goes out of your system and it doesn't have withdrawal effects (at least in me, but I'm an adult). My doctor preferred Ritalin over Adderall for just that reason. I'm on 10 mg of Ritalin and it's helped me focus (and keep my job!) after mild brain damage following a heart operation.

What is the best migraine medication you have tried, and why is it the best?… by rarotongado
I've had migraines off and on for years, due to a car accident. The last 2 years, the migraines have cropped up more often and my doctor will prescribe a migraine med for me to have on hand. The problem is, she says that they are all very similar.
So, the question for yahoo users is, in your personal migraine experiences, what prescription migraine medication worked best, and were there side effects, etc?
Thanks!
Best Answer:
I have had migraines for 30 years. None are the best. The question is in finding the best one for you. You are the only one who can determine that. Ask the Doc. to prescribe the migraine abortive medications one at a time until you find the one that works best for you.
I personally use Imitrex. I have also tried Maxalt, Zomig and all of the others that I don't remember the names of. Imitrex has been the best for me.
The key with any of these is to take them immediately, as soon as you realize that the pain is coming or expect that it is heading to migraine level. If you wait until you have a full blown migraine, no medication will work.
Keep a daily headache diary when you try the new meds. At the end of a few days, or weeks depending on how often you get them, you will have the details for the Doctor. Help them to help you.
Best of luck.

This drug is unique (so far as I know) in that 5a -reductase, the enzyme which converts testosterone to the more-potent DHT, actually converts nandrolone to a less-potent compound. Therefore this AAS is somewhat deactivated in the skin, scalp, and prostate, and these tissues experience an effectively-lower androgen level than the rest of the body. Therefore, for the same amount of activity as another drug at the androgen receptors (ARs) in muscle tissue, Deca gives less activity in the scalp, skin, and prostate. Thus, it is the best choice for those particularly concerned with these things.
Its effectiveness at the androgen receptor of muscle tissue is superior to that of testosterone: it binds better. Yet, it gives only about half the muscle-building results per milligram. This I think is a result of its being less effective or entirely ineffective in non-AR-mediated mechanisms for muscle growth.
It also appears less effective or entirely ineffective in activity on nerve cells, certainly on the nerve cells responsible for erectile function. Use of Deca as the sole AAS often results in complete inability to perform sexually.
These problems can be solved by combining with a drug that does supply the missing activity: e.g. testosterone.
Nandrolone is proven to be a progestin. This fact is of clear importance in bodybuilding, because while moderate Deca-only use actually lowers estrogen levels as a consequence of reducing natural testosterone levels and thus allowing the aromatase enzyme less substrate to work with, Deca nonetheless can cause gyno in some individuals. Furthermore, just as progesterone will to a point increase sex drive in women, and then often decrease it as levels get too high, high levels of progestogenic steroids can kill sex drive in male bodybuilders, though there is a great deal of individual variability as to what is too much.
Incidentally, this progestogenic activity also inhibits LH production, and contrary to common belief, even small amounts of Deca are quite inhibitory, approximately as much so as the same amount of testosterone.
To some extent, nandrolone aromatizes to estrogen, and it does not appear that this can be entirely blocked by use of aromatase inhibitors
Is it possible to have prostate cancer and no prostate?!?!?… by treebas
My Father had his prostate removed last february do to cancer
but his numbers are going higher and higher!! drs. are puzzled all tests show nothing …is it possible to still have prostate cancer and no prostate? could they have left some in there?
so confused please help if you can.

When the prostate is removed during radical prostatectomy it does not grow back. I had surgery in October for prostate cancer. “When the PSA rises after radical prostatectomy the relevant question is whether there is a local recurrence of the prostate cancer ( return of the cancer to the area where it was first identified) or a distant disease (metastatic disease). Overall, about 30% of men with detectable PSA levels after radical prostatectomy have local recurrences, whereas about 70% are anticipated to have distant disease alone or distant disease combined with local disease. Several options are available, including watchful waiting, external beam radiation therapy, and hormone therapy.”
“when the PSA is increasing after definitive therapy, the physician may want to re-stage the patient to determine where the cancer is. It is helpful in the decision making to determine whether the cancer is confined to the area where that prostate was, or in the pelvis, or whether it has spread outside of the prostate area, for example to the bones, or lymph nodes higher up in the abdomen. Methods used in this staging process may be a bone scan, a ProstaScint scan, and/or a CT scan of the abdomen and the pelvis.”
There is still hope of a cure with recurrent prostate cancer and with agressive treament early on, there is a better chance of effectively treating the cancer that has remained.
Information is the best weapon to fight this disease, please take comfort in the fact that prostate cancer is a curable disease and there are many options for treatment, even when one treatment has failed. My prayers go to you and your family at this difficult time.

Call your vet, or an emergency vet clinic, and give them the info – see what they say.
Here is the website with the active and inert ingredients and all the cautionary information, should the vet need it: http://www.fda.gov/cder/foi/label/2003/50541slr017_tobrex_lbl.pdf
